running...sometimes...

I am a consistently inconsistent runner! I have been a runner for about 9 years now. In the past 9 years I have gone from the excitement of running my first mile without stopping to completing a marathon (26.2 miles)! Last year on our 23rd wedding anniversary, my husband and I ran a half marathon called "Haulin' Aspen" in beautiful Bend, Oregon.

We knew it would be difficult with hills and extreme elevation changes, so we trained hard! We were high from our grand accomplishment, and then it happened... We tanked... we got lazy... just sort of stopped running...

We are now paying the price for our very long break. Pitiful, without any excuse and sadly out of shape we have both started running again, rebuilding all the mileage we've lost. Even though it's painful we have one consolation, our beautiful running routes. This is one of them...

I always see things I want to take pictures of while I'm running, so I finally went back in the evening and took these...

I love these rustic old fence posts, I bet they have some stories to tell...

hopefully I'll be ready to add some mileage next week (Gary already has), which will take me across the road and down through these Christmas trees...

here's to many more beautiful trails, a few more races and consistency!!!

Just curious... where have your fitness adventures taken you?

Strawberries

It's that wonderful time of year.... The Oregon strawberry season is in full swing! I bought two flats, made some great shortcake, put some in the freezer and made strawberry jam with the rest....

It was a ton of work but worth it!

It's That Wedding Time of Year

Don't you just love wedding season! It's even better when your nieces and nephews start getting married. My niece Tami is getting married at our house this August and I am making the dress. We are using a 1950's vintage pattern and it's turning out exactly like Tami wanted! I've been taking pictures at all the fittings and will share the before, during and after pictures with you in August!

My nephew Karl is also getting married in July and we recently attended a shower for Molly, his bride to be...

No shower is complete without family... from left to right, Nancy(sister-in-law), Me, Mom (grandma and pastor), Sis (mother of the groom), Chelsea (my daughter)...

friends...

really cute babies...

great food...

oh, and don't forget the gifts...

even the view was great...

Wishing you a bright future Karl and Molly...

Love,
Aunt Laurie

Peace

Okay, in my last post I didn't really take off in a helicopter for a day of crafting... It would be a great way to travel wouldn't it! But I do have pictures of one of my projects...

It started with this great fabric from Sew Mama Sew...

which reminded me of these two...
Perfect fabric for pajama bottoms...
down to business with the cutting and sewing...

the finished product...

PEACE...
