running...sometimes...

I am a consistently inconsistent runner! I have been a runner for about 9 years now. In the past 9 years I have gone from the excitement of running my first mile without stopping to completing a marathon (26.2 miles)! Last year on our 23rd wedding anniversary, my husband and I ran a half marathon called "Haulin' Aspen" in beautiful Bend, Oregon.

We knew it would be difficult with hills and extreme elevation changes, so we trained hard! We were high from our grand accomplishment, and then it happened... We tanked... we got lazy... just sort of stopped running...

We are now paying the price for our very long break. Pitiful, without any excuse and sadly out of shape we have both started running again, rebuilding all the mileage we've lost. Even though it's painful we have one consolation, our beautiful running routes. This is one of them...

I always see things I want to take pictures of while I'm running, so I finally went back in the evening and took these...

I love these rustic old fence posts, I bet they have some stories to tell...

hopefully I'll be ready to add some mileage next week (Gary already has), which will take me across the road and down through these Christmas trees...

here's to many more beautiful trails, a few more races and consistency!!!

Just curious... where have your fitness adventures taken you?

How impressive, My husband is much better and more consistent than I at exercise.(Nordic Track, Abs of Steel, Navy Seal Workout) I was a swimmer in High School and have been an on again off again swimmer. Did very well last summer but this last year has been difficult and am hoping to build back up to last summers lap count. Good Job you are an Inspiration! erin

As fast as I can run, I wouldn't have to go back in the evening to get the photo's!! Love them thanks for the tour. I did have some fitness adventure not long ago, the 500 mile bike ride we took, up hill both ways.. okay it was maybe 5 miles but it felt like 500!
See ya at BH

Know it wasn't "MY" fitness, bbbuuuuttttt, I was a "roadie" last week-end for the Seattle Rock 'n Roll Marathon!! WHAT. A. BLAST.
In 1-1/2 hours, 25,000, yes, that was 25,000 runners went by, as I held out water, and marveled at their determination, ability, training and sheer guts.
Keep it up -- I know I'll never run, (legs & hips won't allow), but it's an awesome thing to watch.
And tho' I don't go quite as far in the same amount of time, walking works pretty well for me.
Enjoy my little "woman of many interests"!!!!!

oh good question! i also have been an inconsistent runner. i was once so dedicated that i would wake at 4:30 get out of the door by 5 run in rain, snow, fog or ice. i was a maniac in other words. for years i was like that. i suspected that if i ever stopped with the compulsive running i would stop and well...that is what happened. now i go to a gym as you know but very sporadically. i am motivated to be strong and that keeps me coming back. i ran a little bit this spring...maybe it isn't over yet for me. i love to run outdoors and hate the treadmill. i can completely relate to the enticement of your beautiful routes.

you GO girl!
