Projects

On a recent trip to Restoration Hardware I fell in love with these covered books...

I have a great set of vintage Funk & Wagnalls Encyclopedias...

hmmm...
Restoration attached the fabric by gluing it to the inside cover.  I really wanted to slipcover these books but couldn't imagine using glue on them.  The internet provided all kinds of tutorials on journal slip covers. The covers can be removed and the book remains intact.  After combining some of the methods, this is how they turned out...

Here's a close up.  I chose three different colors of linen...

No books were harmed at anytime during this project :0) ...

Here's another recent purchase that received a makeover.  Everything was great about these cute canisters except the color...

after some sanding...

and painting...

perfect...

Off to the next project!

Great idea on the slip covers, love the fact you used different color linen. Great canister as well.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the book covers! Am going to try to remember to send my sister the link here in a minute because these would look fabulous in one of her bookshelves!

Those canisters look COMPLETELY different with the white paint. I'm always astounded by the difference paint makes to things. They're lovely!

I love it, both the book covers and the painted canister lids. I would have hated to glue the covers to the books, too.

Hi Lauri,
Good job! I saw those books too at Restoration (on 23rd). Amazing how much their look are similar to "The Best in the West Vendors"... (Hm, I think they have spies at different shows around here)
You've done a good job with the canisters too!
Also, love the new look on your blog -)
Say HI to Debbie.
Hugs,
Sylvi
